Celebrating 75 Years
At the heart of our history is an enduring belief in empowering local governments to lead Alaska’s development through strong, flexible, and community-centered governance. Our annual conference this year marking our Diamond Jubilee, is not only a gathering of municipal leaders but a celebration of progress, partnership, and purpose. 75 years on, AML stands as a champion of municipal advancement, supporting 165 cities and boroughs across the state. We invite you to join us at this historic event and help shape the future of Alaska’s local governments for the next 75 years.
We are expecting to host more than 1000 members, partners, municipal leaders, and affiliates, who will come together to learn from each other and collaborate on efforts to address our shared challenges. We welcome all perspectives and look forward to hearing from state and local government leaders, newly elected officials, municipal staff, and conference sponsors all of whom will make this conference an overwhelming success – and certainly one to remember.

Let’s Celebrate Together:
75 Resolutions for 75 Years
Celebrating local government achievements throughout the past 75 years isn’t about the Alaska Municipal League, it’s about you, the cities and boroughs of Alaska. We would like to highlight all members of the League this year and make sure you are a part of this celebration.
One way you can participate is through an official resolution through your local government that recognizes the role of local governments, highlights of your municipality over the past 75 years, and how AML has supported you on those efforts.
To facilitate this effort, we have developed these ideas for a municipal resolution that you can adapt as necessary. Please help us pass at least 75 resolutions by October 3rd, and we will recognize your governments contribution during the Annual Conference!
Picture This
We will be pulling out all the stops for the 75th Annual Local Government Conference this December in Anchorage. We will have artifacts and exhibits showcasing our 75 years, and yours!
We need you to contribute photos of your local leaders, city hall – old and new, municipal facilities, that old city truck? Show us where your municipality was 75 years ago, and how its changed over time.
Scan and upload the best quality pictures, interesting and historical documents of your municipality here – AML Member Images – Please label them well so we know what they are and when they were taken! You can also email pictures to membersupport@akml.org. If you have physical documents or something worth showing off, please let us know and plan to bring it to the Annual Conference!
Thank you to our 2025 Conference Sponsors
